Iga Swiatek recently managed to turn every eye towards her in Rome. Securing a massive win over Coco Gauff in the semi-finals, the WTA star not only marked an end to the American’s dreams but also earned confidence. While it was not just a regular win but revenge after the last time she faced a defeat in Cincinnati, the Rome finalist recently came forward to spot the differences between the last two matches.
Swiatek touched several points in her post-match conversations after defeating Gauff. On being asked about the differences she noticed in the last showdown against the one in Cincinnati, she appeared to be confident enough about her levels. “Well, it’s hard to compare. In Cincinnati, we have one of the fastest hard courts on tour. Really hard to compare,” the Pole said, using the difference in surfaces as the base of her opinion.

Despite denying a firm comment over any distinguishing factor, the world no.1 accepted the fact that she committed some mistakes in the match she lost. “But I know that I did some stuff wrong in Cincinnati, and I didn’t want to repeat those mistakes,” Swiatek said. While it might seem to be the whole response, the WTA star wasn’t done with her explanation yet.

“Usually players change their tactics when we go to different surface. I was ready for anything. I was ready to just stick to my plan and be consequent with that,” she added, pressing on the strategy that helped her secure a straight-set win. As the tennis star made it clear that she was ready to face all types of challenges, it wasn’t the only comment where she seemed to be oozing confidence about her win.
Iga Swiatek shows no interest in the match involving her competitors
While Iga Swiatek secured a position in the finals by defeating Coco Gauff, her final opponent was to be decided by a showdown between Aryna Sabalenka and Danielle Collins. Soon after earning her spot, the WTA pro was asked if she was looking forward to spectating the upcoming semi-final match. While everyone expected a mild response, the tennis star showed a surge in confidence by prioritizing cuisines over the match.

“I think it’s too late. It’s better to go eat some risotto or something,” she said, presenting an indirect snub to her rivals. Besides her own interest, the WTA pro mentioned that her coach would be active enough to analyze the levels as she added, “For sure my coach will watch and go get ready.”
As the tennis star seems to be carrying enough confidence in the finals, it still remains to be seen if it’s enough to help her win another clay court title this season.
