The Australian Open has served one of its major upsets in round 3. Iga Swiatek is out of the tournament. She stepped into the tournament with the hopes of clinching her first slam in Australia but was unable to move past a Czechia youngster. Watching her exit the tournament, fans were left shocked. 

The 22-year-old Polish star is the first player from her country to win a grand slam. She has continued to play at the highest level, but her recent exit from the Grand Slam effectively thrashed her hopes of winning in Australia.

Swiatek was eliminated from the Australian Open by Linda Nosková, a 19-year-old Czech tennis professional. The match started in her favor as she won the first set 6-3. However, it would quickly turn sideways. Nosková went on to achieve a powerful comeback after winning the next two sets to make the final score 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The official ‘X’ page of WTA shared a post to congratulate Nosková, and fans of the sport shared their thoughts about Swiatek’s defeat.

One of the fans shared a plethora of laughing emojis. They also indicated how Swiatek fans were mocking Elena Rybakina for her defeat as she fought a match that created the longest tie-break in any Grand Slam event.

One user said that the era of Swiatek’s dominance is coming to an end.

Leaving aside player preference, one fan said that this Australian Open was the best for them, as it was highly unpredictable.

Swiatek’s exit in the third round bewildered fans as they expected the WTA number 1 to lift the AO trophy for the first time in her career. Aside from her, the exit of Ben Shelton also came as a major upset as the American player would’ve faced Novak Djokovic had he won. The Aussie slam is already serving us with major upsets in the early rounds of the tournament. On the ATP side, fans will predict that the Djoker will win.
