Iga Swiatek, the youngest in the top ten of the WTA ranking, is making some massive records for herself. Swiatek hasn’t faced a defeat since the Dubai International championship. Adding to that, she has claimed two consecutive titles. Therefore, it’s very obvious that people are hoping for her to share and even break records of some WTA legends.

Iga has won 15 matches in a row. She started this train of victory from the hard courts of Qatar, fueled it up in Indian Wells. And now is riding high in Miami. If She keeps her form static and wins one more match, the pole will have a seat at the legends’ table for sure.

Iga Swiatek, One Step Closer to Achieving a Milestone

In the race to the semifinals, Iga competed against Petra Kvitová. Although Swiatek came out victorious, we should not underestimate the latter. The 32-year-old is an experienced player. If it were not for Naomi defeating her in the 2019 Australian Open, she would have claimed the no.1 raking. Adding to that, she also has a dominant way of winning her matches like Swiatek. However, Swiatek is in a completely different league currently. Thus, she snatched the match out of Petra’s hand by winning two consecutive sets of 6-3, 6-3.

Post her victory, Iga has come closer to becoming the fifth player aged less than 21 years to win 15 plus back-to-back matches ever. The way she is carrying herself, she might as well breeze past her next opponent. Thus, bringing the expectations of her fans to reality by sharing a milestone with legends such as Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova.

The Potential Obstacle to Iga’s Triumph

Iga Swiatek has been performing splendidly in the ongoing tournament and is ready to face Jessica Pegula in the semifinals on 1st April. However, Pegula might be the one who breaks Iga’s 15 match win streak. As per records, Iga and Pegula have locked horns once before this match. They met at Washington and in a fierce three sets match, Pegula overpowered Swiatek. Although Swiatek suffered a loss back then, she now is in rhythm.

Further, If Pegula does not play in an assertive and dominating manner, she would serve the match on a silver platter to Swiatek. If the pole wins the semifinals, her fans will for sure have two things to celebrate. First, her entering the finals, and second, making a record that will shine in her career books.
