Is Iga Swiatek's new coaching choice a game-changer, or should she have stuck with Wiktorowski?

Iga Swiatek‘s coaching saga has finally come to an end. After multiple rounds of whos-and-whys, she has finally announced that Naomi Osaka‘s ex-coach, Wim Fisette would join her coaching staff. Despite the new collaboration set to start on a high note, rumors of tension between her and her ex-coach, Tomasz Wiktorowski hasn’t died down. But now, Iga Swiatek is putting an end to the rumors with a some clear words.

Iga Swiatek has directly addressed the rumors surrounding her split with Wiktorowski. Swiatek clarified their relationship remains good despite the end of their professional partnership. “We are in touch, we even saw each other a few days ago. I feel that we have a lot of respect for each other and we wish each other well,” she stated dismissing the idea of any tension between them.

Wiktorowski also opened up on the same thing a few days ago. Tomasz, who coached Swiatek to the top of the ladder, expressed frustration at the false narratives circulating around since their split. “There has been a lot of speculation and insinuation… Definitely too much considering that the statement that was issued very precisely defines our decision. It is enough to read it with understanding, and not with the intention of looking for sensation,” he said.

Wiktorowski suggested that their decision to part ways was mutual saying, “Our termination of cooperation took place with respect for both parties and no fakes will change that.”

Both the player and her former coach’s efforts to extinguish the negative talks indicate that they remain on good terms despite no longer working together. And it seems besides Iga, her new coach Wim Fisette also has nothing but good things to say about Wiktorowski.

Wim Fisette shared his thoughts on multiple things during a recent interview with Sport.pl. One of the things he discussed was his bond with the world no. 1’s ex-coach.  He suggested that he shares an extensive history with Tomasz Wiktorowski and when needed, he might ask him for assistance. “I have spoken to Tomasz Wiktorowski several times before. We are friends and I will want to contact him again,” said Fisette giving a sign he won’t leave any stone unturned to bring the best out of the Pole.

Fisette’s addition to the Iga’s squad has received mixed response from the tennis world. While some think he will prove to be immensely useful, a few are also of the opinion that someone else might have been better to train the Polish star. Only time will reveal how things will unroll.
