Although Venus Williams is the eldest one of the legendary pair, unlike her younger sister, she has not given up on her athletic career. Even after spending more than two decades on the tennis circuit, her outlook on retiring is entirely different.
Ever since her younger sister retired from tennis last year, everyone has been waiting on the 42-year-old tennis star to do the same. Despite the retirement rumors, the seven-time Grand Slam champion has not given up. She recently got all personal and shared a life philosophy that motivates her to keep pushing.

The American tennis player is preparing to return to the tennis court. After suffering a hamstring injury at the ASB Classic Auckland in January of this year, she also missed the ongoing French Open and the Australian Open. The founder of ‘EleVen by Venus’ recently had a brief ‘Ask me anything’ session on Instagram, during which she responded to questions from fans.
During the Q&A session, a fan asked Venus if she ever felt so defeated following a loss that she considered retiring. To this, she replied, “No, have you felt that way before? No, I just like if I am done, I gotta finish on my own term? So, if you know me at all, you would know that.”
From her answer it is clear that, she has still not decided about retirement at the moment. However, tennis spectators are quite aware of the fact that Venus is passed her peak. But is doing everything in her power to stay connected to the sport as much as she wants.

Moreover, this is not the first time when she denied retirement, or put an end to the retirement rumors. Earlier before the clay season, she also made a similar statement about her comeback plans.
When Williams put an end to the retirement rumors
In March, the former world number one held a similar question-and-answer session on the Eleven by Venus Instagram account. In that, a fan questioned her about her comeback by asking her whether she would be participating in the clay court season this year. The seven-time Grand Slam winner responded to the question with a positive statement. She mentioned how she would love to make that happen and even said that was the plan.

And now that the clay court season is concluding, there is still a ray of hope for all the Williams supporters out there. She has been given a wildcard for the WTA 250 Rothesay Classic in Birmingham, which begins on June 19.
