Naomi Osaka is one of the uprising stars of the new generation, taking over the sport. Even at the young age of 23, she has 4 Grand Slam titles to her name and a few records to go by. Even off the court, the Japanese star is known for her empathetic personality and courteous nature. Displaying her humility, Naomi picked fellow tennis players over herself in a conversation.
Debating over who the best on-court mover is, Naomi was all praise for Simona Halep and Coco Gauff. Notably, she also detailed the differences between the two WTA athletes.
Deciding to be defensive
Naomi and Coco grew up together in the States, playing on the same courts since their childhood. Hence, the two best friends go way back in time, sharing a personal relationship off-court. In a discussion about who has the best movement on the court, Naomi was quick to pick Coco and Halep as her favorites. However, she also pointed out a difference between the two.
She said, “I think Halep is pretty good. Coco as well too, but I would say right now she is in between trying to be aggressive and defensive, so it’s not as good as it could be if she just decided on one thing. And I think Halep is more deciding to be defending.”
Undoubtedly, the two tennis stars will be appreciative of Naomi’s kind words. However, all will be forgotten when the three line up in a possible faceoff at the New York-based event.
