Iga Swiatek has never shied away from expressing her fondness for the 33-year-old Pop star, Taylor Swift. Time and again she has mentioned the influence of Swift in her career. Take the example of this year’s French Open. Earlier this year at the clay-court Grand Slam tournament, Swiatek revealed that listening to Swift’s songs helped her during childhood days.
Recently, she made a surprising revelation ahead of the big tournament in New York. The Polish star is the defending US Open champion and looking to win her fifth Grand Slam title. She has been avoiding distractions while completely focusing on the court. Here’s what she said about Taylor Swift.

During an interview with Vogue before the US Open, the 22-year-old was asked about her go-to artists in rock music. Replying to this, she gave big names of bands and artists. However, there was a familiar name missing.
Talking about the artists and choice of songs, Swiatek said, “ACDC, Guns N’ Roses, Led Zeppelin. But I’m not listening to that every day … I listened to “Welcome to the Jungle” for a long, long time before matches, so now I’m kind of switching it up. I’m also listening to Janis Joplin and Lenny Kravitz, so it’s not only rock-rock.”
Subsequently, she was also asked if Taylor Swift made it to the list as she was the pop star’s fan. However, she added that she wouldn’t want to listen to her music before the match.
Reasoning this out, she revealed, “I don’t know if she creates that kind of music [laughs]. She’s the kind of artist who I really want to focus on when I’m listening and to understand the emotions and lyrics. I wouldn’t choose to listen to Taylor Swift before a match, but overall, she’s great.”
While Swiatek snubbed Swift this time around, she once reacted in excitement to the pop star’s big announcement.
