Venus and Serena Williams’ tennis journey began in the humble courts of Compton. With father Richard as their first coach, they charted their destinies to be the world’s best. The famous Williams sisters made it look like effortless domination, sharing ~50 Grand Slam titles between them. The 23-time Grand Slam champion seemed confused and admitted to asking her father the same. She said, “I don’t know. I always look at my dad, and I think, How were you able to do that?” Though she seems to be figuring out ways to motivate her daughters, the way she was motivated. However, in addition to the mother’s love coming to her daughters’ rescue, she admits her inability to strike the right balance, to ensure that she doesn’t overdo it. “Because I’m like, Oh, they’re so cute. I just want them to relax and I don’t want to over-push them.”
