Recently retired American tennis legend Serena Williams appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show. The 41-year-old discussed a variety of stuff regarding her post-retirement life. One of the most intriguing discussions between the two was about Serena’s cheat day.

Apart from the food choices for that day, Serena also explained the full routine of a usual cheat day she has. The former world number one also explained how having a baby affects her plan.

What does Serena Williams do on her cheat day?

We all love this day called cheat day. Anybody who loves taking care of his body will understand the big importance of this specific day. On a usual cheat day, we take a rest from our workout regime and strict diet plans. The day is a celebration of indulging in guilty pleasures, which includes some heavy, unhealthy food intake.

Describing her cheat day, Serena said that she loves sleeping. However, the 41-year-old has one specific problem because of which she can’t wake up late in the morning. Here’s what she said.

“I will try to wake up late but it’s hard to wake up late when you have a kid. It’s nearly impossible.”

Further, speaking about her cheat day, Serena added, “I would sleep in, and then I love to watch lots of TV shows. I’m big on binging.”

When Drew asked what she loves watching, Serena replied, “Anything cheesy. I don’t like serious stuff. I love action because it’s fast and I love a happy ending.”

Speaking about her food preference for the cheat day, the former world number 1 said, “I love chips but I am not allowed to eat chips because I did this test and I came up red on chips. I love to bake and I refuse to bake gluten-free so I do have a gluten allergy. I just draw the line and I do not bake gluten-free and I will eat it and I just suffer for like a few hours.”

Serena has an elaborate and perfectly planned cheat day. While the legend sweats it out with a tight regime throughout the year, she deserves this one day for herself.

Serena’s regular healthy diet

A year ago, in an interview, Serena revealed her diet plan to keep herself healthy. Speaking about her philosophy for food habits, the 41-year-old said that she believes in eating to live and not living to eat.

Further speaking about her dietary habits, the legend said that she eats a lot of greens and mostly plant-based food. The former world number 1 further said that even though she has a busy routine, she loves to cook for herself.
