Fans go berserk seeing the former world number 1, Naomi Osaka back on the court, just like a lioness ready to roar. She recently posted a clip on her Instagram story where she was seen hitting backhands in an all-black outfit. It has been a long wait for fans, so they couldn’t hold their emotions seeing their favorite player meaner, leaner, and stronger inside the court. Let’s find out some of those reactions.

Naomi Osaka hasn’t played on the WTA Tour since September 2022. Her last participation in the competitive scene was in the Toray Pan Pacific Open. She was forced to retire before her second-round match due to an abdominal illness. But now she’s eyeing a comeback in 2024.

The 26-year-old Japanese icon has been at the peak of the show in women’s tennis for quite a while. She is the first Asian to hold the top rankings in women’s singles. Naomi Osaka has already confirmed her schedule for next season. She is set to take part in the Brisbane International which is scheduled from December 31 to January 7.

Naomi Osaka eyeing for a comeback in ‘The Land Down Under’

Osaka had featured in the semifinals of the Brisbane International in 2019 and 2020. The 14-year-old tournament was halted for a while but again in 2024, it’s set to make a comeback with some changes. Earlier it was announced that this year’s tournament will be expanded to 48 players from WTA singles, 32 from ATP singles draw and 24 pairs in both men’s and women’s double.

This tournament serves as a warm-up event before the mega event which kick starts from January 14 at Melbourne Park. The 4 time Grand Slam champion has dominated the first grand slam of the season in the past. She had last won the Australian Open in 2021. Can she utilize the warm-up event before the mega event and make a stellar start to the 2024 campaign?
