Bianca Andreescu, the Canadian tennis star, has several records under her name, such as her being the only teenager to win a Grand Slam title after Maria Sharapova. She thrashed 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams, to clinch the title at US Open 2019. Further, she is the highest-ranked Canadian in WTA history as she held the ranking of world no.4 in 2019.

Bianca gave a very solid start to her career defeating mega players in all the three titles she has claimed up till now. However, she stumbled upon a chain of injuries, causing unnecessary breaks in her run. Though now after a six months break, she is all set to test her skills in Stuttgart Open.

What Does Bianca Andreescu Have to Say About Her Break?

Bianca, while speaking for a podcast, stayed true to herself. She spoke about the reasons for her being on the sidelines for so long. She said, “As brutal as this sounds or as honest as this sounds, I kinda hated myself, which was just a toxic environment, not just for me, but for everybody around me as well.”

“It did not feel that it was fair at all and I knew that just like a month off or even less, this season is pretty long. I wouldn’t do much. So I had to take the initiative with some accumulations of other people’s thoughts and opinion I made that decision of taking a break. And I told my team I have no idea how long this is gonna be.” 

Bianca’s Breaks From Tennis

Bianca Andreescu turned pro in the year 2017. From then till 2019, she constantly hit the headlines owing to her tremendous form and skills. However, a knee injury in October 2019 pushed the Canadian out of the circuit for almost a year. The 21-year-old made a brief comeback in 2021. Though couldn’t bring back the impact she had and faced early exits in the Australian Open and US Open.

Following this, at the end-of-year 2021, she announced a mental break from tennis for an uncertain period. Since then, Andreescu has missed the 2022 Australian Open and the recent charleston Open along with the summer double. Now, after around six months, she has decided to step back on the court.

Former world no.4 will lock horns with Jule Niemeier in the round of 32 of the Stuttgart Open on April 19. The latter has taken a wild card entry to the tournament.
