American tennis star Sloane Stephens turned pro in 2009. However, we got to see her best in the years 2017- 2018 when she claimed the US Open title in 2017 and reached the finals of Roland Garros in 2018. Also, the 29 years old attained her highest ever ranking, world number 3 in the same year.

However, a dip in form coupled with her foot injury saw her soon go down in the ranks. Currently ranked 64th, the American has done well to reach the quarterfinals of the ongoing French Open. She defeated Jil Teichmann of Switzerland in straight sets to book her quarterfinal slot.

Addressing the media after the match. The 29 years old replied to a question regarding the strange new design of Nike tops for women in ongoing Roland Garros.

Sloane Stephens about new Nike tops

Recently, a journalist asked about the new design of Nike tops. Which is being used by a few women tennis players in the tournament. The top has got a hole to its side, and the journalist wondered if it’s for some function or merely for design. Replying to the question, the 29 years old said she has no idea about the function. And probably it’s just for fashion.

“I honestly have no idea. I think it’s just… yeah, I would say it’s fashion. The piece of the shirt is missing. That’s all.” She said.

The 29 years old has looked in good form in the tournament and will hope to make the best use of it.

Sloane to face compatriot Corey Gauff in quarterfinals

The quarterfinal between Stephens and Gauff will be an all-American affair. Both the players are coming from straight-set victories in their fourth-round game and have looked strong in the tournament. However, they both met only once earlier in the second round of the US Open last year.
