Adversities Emma Raducanu Has Faced

While speaking to the press, she first addressed the conditions in which she played in the Miami Open and disclosed the severity of it by saying, “I have no toenails. It was just my foot, my shoes. They’ve just been sliding around a lot.”

However, with the Billie Jean King Cup ahead, the Brit cleared the doubts about her current physical condition and participation. She said, “I had a small niggle in Miami, but now I have no physical thing. I genuinely believe that clay could be one of my strongest surfaces.”

Earlier, in 2021, she suffered breathing difficulties and had to walk out in the fourth round of Wimbledon against Ajla Tomljanovic. In 2022 the Brit called off a 3 hours and 36 minutes long match of Guadalajara Open against Australian tennis ace Saville due to an injury in her left hip. The injury kept her in sidelines for quite some time and she missed Monterrey Open.

Emma’s Clay Court Debut

Emma Raducanu will play her first every professional clay court match in BJK cup on behalf of Great Britain. However, there is no room for nervousness. She is excited to test herself, as she said. “I like moving because I feel like I have got a lot more potential physically. And I do enjoy sliding. So, after spending more time on this surface, I’m sure I’ll time it better and learn more about the surface but also just the time that the clay brings.”
