The year 2020 has played a pivotal role in restoring family bonds worldwide. From celebrities to athletes, everyone entered the kitchen to make productive use of the quarantine time. Even America’s tennis supremo Serena Williams took on baking cookies and cakes with daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. Along with that, they had some great fun on the karaoke.
Being a 23 time Grand Slam winner is one thing, but being a mother is a whole another level. Acing in both, the 39 years-old maximized the opportunity of staying at home. After watching the karaoke session on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Serena was all smiles about it.

“Such a performer”: Serena Williams on her daughter
The duo jammed on the ‘Paw Control’ jingle where 3-year-old Olympia stole the show with her energy. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the young girl has inherited the natural fire from her mother. Serena called her the small version of the American singer-songwriter and the host of the show.
Serena said, “I’ve got my own little Kelly Clarkson! And, that was like, we weren’t even rehearsing. I just pressed record and that was her. Such a performer.”
However, singing is not the only activity the mother-daughter duo took up this year.
“She loves baking”: Williams
On the cooking endeavors, Serena is surprised looking at her daughter taking up the kitchen. Williams said, “We were just making a cake, in fact. We were just making a strawberry shortcake. She’s been asking me every day for a strawberry shortcake.”
Traditions usually pass down from mother to daughter, but Olympia got her mother to learn new things. “She loves baking. It’s crazy. I’ve actually never even baked cookies. So when quarantine first started, my cookies were literally black. And, now I am baking a cake. I don’t know where she gets this baking idea or cooking idea from,” Olympia’s mother added.

Unlike most, the American has no intention to hang her racket any time soon. She will compete at the first major tournament of the 2021 season – the Australian Open. Williams is one Grand Slam away from equaling Margaret Court’s all-time most major titles record.
