The final was held between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka, which ended in favor of the Japanese star. Despite the surprising result, what caught Chris Evert’s attention and awe was something completely different.

She uploaded a picture of hers with the legendary actor and stated, “I echo that. When I think of Meryl, I think of class, grace, kindness…and I can confirm this after meeting her!” Evert voiced her admiration for Streep and watched the match together.

Back in 2018, Osaka defeated tennis legend Williams in the US Open finals to clinch the title. This year, however, she has not been able to perform well on the court. Nonetheless, she is still hopeful and is gearing up for the hard court major. It will be interesting to see if the Japanese player will get her grit back on the court.
On the other hand, 23-time grand slam champion, Serena Williams, has announced her retirement. She will try to win at the US Open, where she has clinched the title six times in the past.
