When Iga Swiatek is on the opposite side, even the stadium air seems aligned in her way. She climbed ladders of success, one by one, with so much ease and determination. The Pole did not feel content with her first Grand Slam title. She went on to conquer her second title as well. In the press conference after winning the 2nd crown in 2022, she said, “…I was even more happy and even more proud of myself because in 2020 it was all, I just felt that I’m lucky. This time I felt like I really did the work.” This attitude landed her in the perfect place.
The Pole has emerged unbent, unbroken, and undefeated from the confidence of winning two French Open Titles. All eyes are focused on her for the 2023 Roland Garros. In this context, Aga Radwanska was asked about Swiatek’s biggest threat. She did not even hesitate or think to talk about the undefeatable champion.
Iga Swiatek has to beware of herself

Yep, you heard that right! Radwanska felt that there was no real competition for the Pole but herself. So, Swiatek has to beat her own record. She has already put Serena Williams behind with her winning streak and is on par with Venus Williams. This deadly player is defeating champions like plucking flowers off a plant.
Impressed with her career performance, the former 2nd seed and the Pole’s compatriot said, “I don’t know how the girls have to play to even be close to winning a set. At the moment, I don’t see anyone playing the same level as Iga.” Given her back-to-back bagels (6-0, 6-0) in the recent match with Wang Xinyu, it might not be a surprise if Swiatek does it again, as that was not her first time in the ‘bakery’ field.
In the post-match conference, however, Swiatek refused to address talk about her win without losing a set. She said she did not want to make the opponent feel uncomfortable. So she asked the reporters not to ask questions about it out of respect for the opponent players. Simplicity, humbleness, and a power pack of talent. The tennis world is fortunate to have the Polish superstar.
Is there no real competition for Swiatek?
Radwanska thinks so. She opined, “I think herself, the pressure on herself. I think that is her biggest threat and then I think Sabalenka. I don’t see anyone else to be honest.” Out of the eight matches between Sabalenka and Swiatek, the latter won five games. Most of the wins are bagged in finals, semi-finals, and quarter-finals.

With another crucial match at hand, Sabalenka wishes to emerge as the number one player while Swiatek looks to defend her title. To do so, Swiatek has to cross Haddad Maia, Aryna Sabalenka and Karolina Muchova. All three players have beaten her at least once. It would certainly not be a cakewalk for any of them to win against each other.
