It was the year 2023. Riding high after a consistent run of performances throughout the year, Coco Gauff entered the US Open as a home favorite. And she didn’t disappoint the local crowd as Gauff defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the summit clash to clinch her maiden Grand Slam title. Subsequently, the American sensation has gone on to become one of the most influential figures in the tennis world. TIME Magazine has recognized it and she was reckoned among the Women of the Year award.
It is a much-deserved honor for Gauff, who has changed the face of American tennis, almost as if in Serena Williams’ stead. Recently, she spoke about her future goals amid this honor.

Coco Gauff fully focused on her career goals
At 19, Gauff still has a long way to go in her tennis career. Success has come at a young age for her and she is hoping to capitalize on that and win more Grand Slam titles. In a recent interview with TIME Magazine, she spoke about the magnitude of her achievements and future career aims.

Talking about the feelings after winning her maiden Grand Slam title, Gauff said, “It was like a drug. I’ve never felt anything like that.” Further, she also spoke about being among the reckoning for the Women of the Year Award of TIME Magazine.
Gauff revealed, “That’s the motivation that drives me. I’m sure the ‘Face of Tennis’ and glitz and glam will come along with that. But I don’t really care about any of that. I really just care about how many of those major trophies I can get in my house.”

While Gauff was over the moon following her massive US Open achievement, she also made a heartfelt revelation about her parents. They played a massive role in her success and Gauff didn’t forget to mention them.

Gauff’s heartfelt note to her parents
During an interview after her US Open victory, Gauff thanked her parents for supporting her in her tennis career. They also made a lot of sacrifices so that she could pursue her tennis dream.
Gauff said, “Yeah, so my dad is the reason why I started playing tennis. And he still gives me tips every now and then, pretty much all the time. And my mom, she kind of helped me on my journey.”

The American sensation will look to make the most of her long career ahead and win as many Grand Slam titles as she could. Moreover, she will have her idol, Serena Williams’ records in sight as she chases her dreams.
