Reddit co-founder and Serena Williams‘ husband, Alexis Ohanian, felt something similar during the formative years of his career. However, the 39-year-old entrepreneur opened up about being blunt and audacious and also talked about making a tangible change in this aspect of his personality.

Alexis Ohanian on embracing his new trait
The Reddit co-founder, who uses his social media platforms to talk about issues that he feels are noteworthy, does it unapologetically and makes sure his voice is heard. However, this was not the case all the time. Ohanian accepted being subtle and humorous when expressing his views during the initial years of his career.
It was because he did not want to hurt people or bring any negativity to his own side. But time changed and so did Ohanian. In a recent interview with Money, he said, “I think I leaned too much, early in my career, on things like humor or self-deprecation because I didn’t want to sound too audacious.”
However, he accepted, “And I might have gotten that wrong…Because now I’m just trying to speak as plainly and frankly and earnestly as I can.” The best change is that he talks about whatever he wants to, without giving anything else much thought. He said, “And whether people believe it or not, or whether people are annoyed by it or not… I don’t really care anymore.”

How this change is similar to what happened with Serena Williams?
The 23-time Grand Slam champion has made mistakes both on and off the court. However, in 2018, during the US Open finals against Naomi Osaka, she had an aggressive outburst against the chair umpire and refused to apologize to him. Eventually, after some time, Williams did acknowledge that things became difficult for Osaka and accepted her mistake. But she did not do the same to the chair umpire.

On another occasion, Williams blasted the American tennis legend John McEnroe for his remark, stating that if she competed in the men’s circuit, she would have ranked 700 in the world. Serena Williams did not stay silent and told him to leave her out of his statements.
