Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard is one of the most famous players going around in the tennis circuit. The Canadian star is well-liked by both fans and professionals. Her stardom skyrocketed right after her first tour appearance.

The problem is that not everybody accepts her for who she really is. Bouchard originally regarded Halep as one of the fittest players, but Halep has not shown the same level of appreciation. Simona Halep once voiced her indifference towards the Canadian star.

Simona Halep once spoke about Eugenie Bouchard

In 2017, Simona Halep defeated Roberta Vinci in the second round of the Madrid Open. During her post-match press conference, the interviewer asked her about her relationship with Eugenie Bouchard, to which she said, ?I didn?t wish good luck to Bouchard because we don?t speak, actually.?

She concluded by saying, ?She?s different, I can say. I cannot judge her for being this. I cannot admire her for being this, and I have nothing to say about her person.? Prior to Simona Halep’s victory, Eugenie Bouchard defeated former world no.1, Maria Sharapova, in the second round of the Madrid Open 2017. However, Bouchard thought it was unfair when five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova returned from a doping suspension in April 2017 and immediately dubbed her as a cheater.?

Eugenie Bouchard, a native of Canada, made history when she advanced to the final of a Grand Slam in singles for the first time in 2014 at the Wimbledon Championships. She competed in and advanced to the semifinals of both the 2014 Australian Open and the French Open of the same year. The 28-year-old set a new career-high ranking of No. 5 and became the first Canadian tennis player to crack the top 5 in the singles rankings.

Simona Halep, on the other hand, has won the French Open (2018) and the Wimbledon Championships (2019) in singles to give her a total of two Grand Slam singles titles in her career. The 31-year-old’s career includes 24 singles titles on the WTA Tour and 18 runner-up finishes.?
