Serena Williams made her much-awaited return to the tour at the Eastbourne International. And it was a triumphant return for her. She was playing doubles with the world no.3 Ons Jabeur in the round of 16 against the pair of Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzková.
Notably, this was Serena’s first match after getting injured in the first round of last year’s Wimbledon. After the match, the American tennis legend revealed her partnership and the first win with her partner, Jabeur.

Then the Tunisian player also chimed in with her thoughts as she said, “It was so much fun. I was little bit nervous, playing with such a legend. Even when I made mistakes on court she was supporting me.”
Later, the interviewer asked Serena whether they will play at Wimbledon together as well. Serena replied, “We’re taking this show on the road! No, no, we’re taking it one match at a time.”

Jabeur does not know why Serena picked her
Before their match today, Jabeur revealed that Serena called her to play doubles with her when she was having dinner. She said, “I don’t know honestly why she picked me but I’m glad that she did. Maybe Venus had something to do with it, maybe she was watching a bit of tennis and she saw some North African girl playing good lately so maybe that kind of helped. I hope she was watching the Madrid final as well.”
Thrilled and excited to team up with the one and only @serenawilliams in Eastbourne!
