Leave it to Serena Williams to make everyone crave delicious food! While dominating the tennis court with her powerful forehands and serves, she’s also become a culinary sensation. Growing up, Serena learned the ropes of cooking from her mother. She noted in 2013, “I grew up watching my mom in the kitchen. That’s how I know anything about cooking.”

This passion has only gotten stronger over time, especially after years of “restaurant hopping” on tour. Now, she’s embracing the joy of home-cooked meals. But amidst managing her business and raising her two active daughters, how does she make it work?

On March 17, Serena posted another cooking video, appropriately captioned: “I love messing around in the kitchen. Kitchen Lickin Good.” After a busy day, she rushed home to cook dinner, excitedly sharing, “I just finished filming some stuff and today I’m making – ran home to make dinner. And I’m going to show you what I’m making!”

Today’s menu includes a variety of dishes! If you didn’t know, Serena loves both savory and sweet, calling her palate “the deadliest of both.” And this cooking experiment demonstrates that perfectly. “I am making some fresh croutons with jalapenos, rosemary and I’m actually going to throw some sage on there. Just to add some flavor,” she explains.

But the pièce de résistance? A homemade cherry pie! She works on the sweet sensation. She notes, “This is the pastry that I made the other day and froze it because I wanted it to be nice and cool. And these are the cherries.” But that’s not all! Looks like multitasking is her superpower, as she’s also brewing tea. “Over here, I dehydrated some strawberry leaves from my farm, so I’m going to make some strawberry tea,” she reveals.

But this 43-year-old is on a clock. She can’t handle the pressure with two little ones running around, right? Serena admits, “Okay, this isn’t my most neat crust, but I am in a hurry and the girls are home any minute. I am doing too many things.”

In a surprising twist, Serena’s “Chegan” diet leads her to attempt cooking steak—though she confesses it’s been a while since she last tried. “I don’t actually cook steak, so I hope I cut this right. I tried to cut it on the bias and I can’t tell you the last time I made steak,” she admits. The result? A beautifully roasted Crostini with garlic and rosemary. She created a stunning montage of her final dishes.

Serena Williams truly puts her heart and soul into everything she does. As she once said, “I want to be the GOAT at something else” and now she’s conquering cooking. This isn’t the only recipe she’s shared!

Serena Williams gets creative in the kitchen with Olympia and new recipes

On March 9, she shared a heartwarming cooking session with her daughter Olympia on Instagram, captioning it, “Bet you didn’t know I love cooking. Here is me teaching @olympiaohanian my gumbo recipe.”

Gumbo, a classic Louisiana dish, is a flavorful blend of African, American Indian, and European influences often featuring the iconic Creole “Holy Trinity” of onions, bell peppers, and celery. In the video, Serena and Olympia worked together like pros, chopping onions and sausages, stirring pots, and, of course, taste-testing the sauce. This special moment showcased their adorable bond as they created a mouthwatering meal, served over rice.

Notably, Meghan Markle’s Netflix show, Watch with Love, Megan, sparked her culinary interest, which debuted on March 4. This show seems to have ignited a fresh wave of creativity in Serena’s kitchen, leading her to experiment with fresh ingredients like Moringa. The day after watching the show, she posted on her Instagram story moving about in her garden, having a “wild and free day.” She was picking off the leaves of a plant and spoke to the camera about wanting to cook Moringa.

Apparently, she had a lot of dry Moringa at home but wanted to use fresh leaves because she learned they can be cooked like spinach. Serena planned to pan-sear the Moringa leaves, saying she would do it for just a minute before eating.
