American tennis legend Venus Williams is among the greatest the game has seen. She last played a competitive tennis match in the US Open in 2022. While her sister Serena Williams retired after that tournament, Venus is still active. However, the 42-year-old is taking a break right now and plans to return next year.

Meanwhile, the legend is spending some time relaxing and is quite active on social media. Recently she came up with a new video with her coach Eric Hechtman discussing various fun things related to tennis and other stuff related to her career. At a point, they also discussed running, when Venus explained how much she hates it.

Venus Williams happily retired from running

Running is one of the most important exercises for any athlete. Be it any game, we often see athletes starting their workout with a good run. While Venus did it in the past, she has happily given up running now. Speaking of how much she hates it, the 42-year-old narrated a story related to running.

Serena had this charity run, and I almost killed myself just to do a 5k in like 30 minutes. People on strollers with strollers and kids were passing me and I couldn’t do anything about it. I am so glad I’m retired from any sort of running outside of the court,” she said.

It’s strange that a legend like Venus Williams hates running. Even though she might not run outside now, tennis itself requires a good amount of running inside the court, and that could be equally tiring.

Venus revealed her key to longevity

At an age of 42, Venus is one of the oldest tennis players on the tour. The legend is active in professional tennis for almost three decades now. She is still very fit and quite energetic. In a recent interview, the former world number one spoke about what she does to take care of herself.

Speaking about her regime, the seven-time Grand Slam champion revealed that having proper and long sleep is most important of all. Further, the legend revealed that she eats a lot of healthy food and takes supplements. Processed food is to be avoided and focus more on fresh fruits and vegetables.

However, the 42-year-old added that as a tennis player, constant travel is something that can disrupt the routine and it is very hard to carry it out simultaneously.
