There’s never a shortage of power couples in tennis. From Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa to Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter, they keep raising the bar for couple goals. But there’s one duo that always manages to steal the spotlight—Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina. Ever since they made their relationship public in 2019, fans haven’t had enough of them. If you haven’t already checked out their G.E.M.S. Life content on social media, you’re seriously missing out. Now, the couple has given us yet another reason to swoon.
Elina Svitolina has been on absolute fire on clay this year. The Ukrainian hasn’t lost a single set on the surface in 2025. She kept the momentum going with a solid 6-3, 6-4 win over the World No. 10 Elena Rybakina in R32 of the Mutua Madrid Open on Sunday night. Taking just 1 hour and 24 minutes, Svitolina handled business in their third-round clash with ease. With that victory, she evened her career head-to-head against Rybakina to 3-3 and now holds a 2-1 edge over the Kazakh on clay.
When asked where she finds the energy to keep winning, Svitolina melted hearts with her answer. In her on-court interview, she said, “I feel like we are motivating each other, me and Gael. He won Auckland. I won last week in Rouen. We’re trying to keep up with each other” ❤️. And just like that, they proved once again why they are one of tennis’s ultimate power couples.

Their positive energy doesn’t just reflect off the court—it’s translating into real results on the court. Monfils reached the third round at Indian Wells and the fourth round in Miami, while Svitolina made the quarterfinals in the desert and the fourth round in South Beach. Both of them have a title each this year.
Monfils made history earlier this year at the ASB Classic in Auckland. The 38-year-old Frenchman became the oldest winner of an ATP Tour singles title, beating Belgium’s Zizou Bergs 6-3, 6-4 in the final. It marked the 13th ATP title of his career and showed that age really is just a number for Monfils.
Meanwhile, Elina Svitolina added another trophy to her collection by winning the Rouen Open in France. She defeated Serbian Olga Danilovic 6-4, 7-6(8) in the final. It was her first title in nearly two years, with her last one coming in Strasbourg back in May 2023. That victory in Rouen also felt extra special, as it marked another high point in her journey back after maternity leave.
Speaking of family, their daughter Skai seems ready to carry the torch, too.

Elina Svitolina shares her daughter’s adorable tennis talent
In 2022, Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils announced the happiest news—they were expecting their first child. Their daughter, Skai, arrived in October that year. Despite their high profiles, Monfils and Svitolina have made a clear decision to protect Skai’s privacy. They have never posted her face online and work hard to balance their travel schedules to give her a grounded upbringing.
Recently, fans got a sweet update about little Skai’s growing love for sports. During her post-match interview with Tennis Channel, Svitolina shared, “She’s very good. She loves to play tennis. She has her small racket, but she prefers the big one — either mine or Gael’s. So, yeah, she’s on the court trying to hit some balls…It’s fun to watch her grow, and she’s so much into sports. She loves football and just tries to really play a lot of different games.”

And what does Skai think about her parents? Svitolina couldn’t help but smile as she said, “She’s watching matches, she’s watching us play. She thinks that the only thing we do is play tennis, which is probably like that. But it’s interesting to see her grow every single week. It’s always something different, something new. She’s now talking a lot. And, yeah, it’s interesting to discover it all with her.”
Up next, the Ukrainian will face former World No.3 Maria Sakkari in the Round of 16 at the Madrid Open. With Monfils and Svitolina pushing each other to new heights, the best for the couple may be yet to come. Can 2025 turn out to be their biggest year? What do you think?
