Serena Williams is going through a rough patch in her tennis career. After having consecutive subpar runs in tournaments in 2019, Williams fell prey to a pestering injury. Following that, she made her comeback to the women’s circuit in this season’s grass swing but couldn’t prove her prowess. However, her business game has become stronger than ever.

Williams utilized her time off the court in the wisest way possible. Along with focusing on her recovery, she made noteworthy investments in business, which has helped her share the table with some famous Hollywood figures.

Serena Williams and veganism

The 23-time Grand Slam champion is one of the most innovative and considerate athletes. Therefore, when she achieved her personal goal of dominating tennis, she decided to enter a brand new arena and provide people with a cruelty-free choice of outfits. Williams turned vegan in 2012 and started her clothing line in 2018, S by Serena.

The former world no.1 spoke about her goal behind the venture and said, “I feel like a lot of things are being killed and we’re not saving the earth. We can all just do one small thing and help out. So that was also a lot of our inspiration.” Williams, who is famous for her eye-catching on court and off court outfits, now offers a range of body hugging dresses and tasteful yet darling slits and cutouts via S by Serena.

Further, with the help of her brand, she has claimed a spot on the list of celebrities who are putting their efforts to make the world vegan. Drew Barrymore, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Leonardo Di Caprio, Cameron Diaz, Drake and Steve Aoki are some of the celebrities with either vegan ventures or investments in such ventures.

Williams’ other investments

Serena Williams, apart from running her own brand, has made an investment in many potential startups through Serena Ventures. She currently owns shares in around 60 companies and in March raised a funding of 111 million dollars.

In addition, the seven-time Wimbledon champion now sits on the board of SurveyMonkey’s parent, Momentive. Also, Williams has entered the market of NFTs. The 40-year-old joined the NFT company Sorare as their advisor in January.
