Martina Navratilova, the 18 times Grand Slam champion and former world no.1 has inspired many. She started hitting tennis balls, off a concrete wall at the tender age of four. Thereafter, her mother Jana married Miroslav Navratil, who became her first tennis coach. At the age of 15, she won the Czechoslovakia national tennis championship, and at 16, she debuted in the United States Lawn Tennis Association.

Following that, she turned pro in 1974 and made records such as winning six consecutive titles at Wimbledon. Therefore, for bringing Czechoslovakia on the map of tennis through her efforts and advancements in the game; it was not surprising that Vogue asked her to be the face of Vogue CS.
Martina Navratilova With Vogue
Martina posed for the leader’s column of Vogue Czechoslovakia along with other Czech WTA players. Such as Barbora Krejcikova and Petra Kvitova. Thereafter, she took on Instagram to share her look from the cover of the magazine and enquired, “How is this for a cover?”

To which Tracy Austin, the three-time Grand Slam champion and former World No.1, responded by writing, “Looking awesome!” Further, Prakash Amritraj, Tennis Channel’s anchor and former tennis professional also reacted to her post. And wrote, “Beautiful picture Martina!!”
Petra Kvitova Speaks About Sharing the Platform With Martina
Petra Kvitova, the former World No.2 and two times Wimbledon champion wrote about how happy she was when she got the chance to be on the cover of Vogue alongside Martina. She expressed her feeling on Twitter. She posted, “Honoured to be featured in this month’s Czech Vogue Magazine alongside some amazing women from Czech tennis. And, of course, the one and only Martina Navratilova.”

Martina retired from professional tennis in 2004. Thereafter, she decided to work for the society. She participates actively in campaigns to protect and provide under-privileged children. Further, the former World No.1 is involved with various charities that benefit animal rights. She said, “I’ve been active in animal rights and all kinds of environmental stuff and children’s charities over the years.”

In addition, she also supports former rival Chris Evert’s charity along with many other famous names. Chris Evert Charities provides prevention and intervention programs to eliminate drug abuse and child neglect.
