The year 2019 was a bitter-sweet one for one of America’s most promising young talents. While Anisimova reached the last four of the French Open that year, she had to miss the year’s final Grand Slam tournament, the US Open. Just before the start of the tournament, Anisimova received tragic news about the passing away of her father.
Anisimova’s father, Konstantin Anisimov, was her long-time coach and passed away due to a heart attack. He was just 52 years old at that time. During that time, the tennis star was busy practicing for the US Open. Meanwhile, her father passed away at home in Aventura, Fla.

The American tennis star was shocked to hear the tragic news and withdrew from the event. She returned to her home in Miami to mourn the saddening loss. Anisimova returned to the tour later that year. But emotions got the better of her after one of her matches on a comeback.
Reporter’s question about father made Anisimova cry
After her comeback match, Anisimova was asked about her father in the post-match interview. The reporter asked her, “Do you feel unsettled?” This question made her emotional and she was lost for words. Eventually, she gathered her composure and answered, “Do we really have to talk about this so fast after a match?”

It looks like Anisimova has finally found some form in the 2024 season. She is in the fourth round of the Australian Open and will face one of the tournament’s favorites, Aryna Sabalenka tomorrow.
