The Belarusian tennis beauty split from her partner amidst the engagement rumors and being with him for 2 years. Right around the same time, Victoria Azarenka’s career took a nosedive as well since she missed 24 games in 2014, the same year as her breakup due to foot and knee injuries. This brought her ranking from number 1 to number 31 and that can take a toll on anyone’s mental health.

At first, she was hesitant to accept if something was wrong with her. But Azarenka later realized she was in depression. She said, “I was (depressed), but I just didn’t realize it, because all these things happen, and you just don’t know how to deal with emotions.”

The Belarusian player also shared that she had a meeting with Nike but no matter what, she could not make herself prepare for it. Azarenka added, “I had a meeting in this restaurant with Nike people, and I didn’t feel like dressing up. I just put on that shirt and those pants, and I come into the restaurant.” Post this, she also shared what helped her get through this damaging breakup of her life.

Azarenka’s method of dealing with her breakup and making it through

Victoria Azarenka shared that the first step was to admit that she was not okay and that made her feel a little better. Further, she also added that some activities helped her, like painting and listening to music. Azarenka said, “I just feel that art is about expressing your emotions and expressing your feelings, and music is the same way, you can see what other people are going through.

These things got her back on track and of course, her friend Caroline Wozniacki, also lent a shoulder to her to cry on and lean on to help her through this.
