Just vote! Somewhere inside all of us, there is a power to change the world, and voting is just one of the most powerful non-violent tools to bring changes in a democratic society. American tennis player, Coco Gauff has time and again urged her fellow Americans to participate in the upcoming US presidential elections. Gauff is quite informed when it comes to politics and social issues. She’s someone who has always been very vocal about the issues close to her heart and has been often seen putting up posts on social media to show her support for the right cause. Despite being so active, little could she have imagined someone writing her name for the presidency!
In-person voting at the US presidential elections began on 20 September and the results are all set to be declared in just a few hours from now. Coco Gauff was among the first ones to cast her vote in this election. She even shared a picture on her IG story after casting her vote with the caption, “Did my duty, now go do yours.” Recently, Gauff was also seen encouraging people by saying, “I voted. I posted content trying to encourage people to vote. It’s definitely on my mind.“
She further added, “It’s a tough time for our country, a crucial time for our country right now. All I can do is encourage people, especially young people, to vote and use their voice. Especially in my generation, there’s a lot of people who don’t see the power of voting. For me, I do.” Now she has also come up with a TikTok video claiming, “In a different country week always training or working. Busy pro athlete and I still found time to vote. Girls who vote are the baddest.” The 20-year-old tennis star’s incredible maturity has been in the headlines time and again, but still, not even in her wildest dreams, she could’ve imagined someone putting her name up for the presidency! In the comment section of this video clip, a fan revealed, “I wrote your name in for president queen.” Gauff was a bit surprised by this hilarious comment and she replied to that fan saying, “I’m hoping this is a joke.”

According to Coco Gauff, “I don’t think it will affect me when I’m playing. It’s November 5, so 6 here, it will be a very anxious day that day. Obviously, I voted before in the past for more state, local elections, but first time voting for a presidential election. To be able to do your part felt really cool and empowering.” Her excitement surrounding the US presidential elections is reflected quite vividly through these comments, but do you know Gauff is on which team? Donald Trump or Kamala Harris?

Coco Gauff feels a personal connection with Kamala Harris because of her background. During her childhood days, even Gauff had a “presidential dream” and she feels Harris’s rise has also been an inspiring story for her. For those who are unaware, Harris’s parents are Jamaican and Indian immigrants and Gauff is pretty excited to see a woman of color doing so well and stepping up to become a strong candidate for the presidential election. When Coco Gauff won the US Open in 2023, we saw Harris putting up a post on social media congratulating the youngster. She wrote, “Congratulations, @CocoGauff! Your drive and determination are an inspiration to the millions of little girls watching. I feel confident that while this is your first Major title, it won’t be your last.“
Now, we’re seeing Coco Gauff sharing a few heartfelt words on Harris. During a recent interview, she said, “I know just from watching, like, you know, her speeches and learning about her story, but I guess from a more personal perspective because I know her mother was an immigrant.” They didn’t have much interaction in the past, but if Gauff gets a chance of meeting Kamala Harris in the near future yet again, what would she ask her? “I think I would ask her just her story and, you know, what were the stepping stones to that point, because I think at one point almost every kid said they were going to be the next president of the United States. So it would be cool to hear her story from her perspective and I guess not on the news and stuff,” said Gauff.
