Mike Baggz, a songwriter and businessman, recently took to Twitter to talk about Serena Williams’ marriage. He tweeted stating that Serena would have a more “solidified” legacy had she married an African-American man. Unsurprisingly, this kind of statement infuriated the huge fanbase of the 23-time Grand Slam champion.

Fans are not taking this lightly and even popular names like Scottie Beam couldn’t resist replying to this tweet. Being a feminist, Serena has influenced a lot of her fans who have attacked the “misogyny” in Baggz’s comment.

Team Serena Williams is relentless

Serena fans are not letting this go. The tennis star’s identity as a woman of color has empowered millions across the world. They will definitely not allow anybody to tie her worth to who she chooses to marry.

The songwriter in question, Mike Baggz, tweeted, “Serena Williams’s legacy would of been even more SOLIDIFIED if she married a Black American man.”

Fans immediately flooded his comments section and also quote tweeted his original post to express their strong views.

A fan wished for Mike Baggz to get a chronic foot infection. Another called Mike’s take on Serena’s personal life “problematic”.

Fans were quick to bring up names of successful black sportsmen whose legacies are not questioned because of who they chose to marry.

Scottie Beam, the renowned model, has also expressed her disappointment over this comment. She tweeted a sarcastic comment- “I hate what crack did to my people”.

Alexis Ohanian, the guy Serena Williams chose to marry, is the co-founder of Reddit and stands at a net worth of $70 million. The two met in Rome during Serena’s Italian Open match in 2015. They tied the knot in 2017, two months after their daughter Olympia was born.
