Serena and Venus Williams’ story has been nothing short of spectacular. The two sisters grew up in a humble background. However, it didn’t stop them to work day and night to improve their game. The hard work done throughout their career has borne fruit and they have gone on to become one of the most successful siblings in tennis.

While Serena has gone on to win 23 Grand Slam titles in women’s singles, Venus has seven major titles in her kitty. Further, dominating on the doubles front too, they have teamed up to clinch 14 major doubles titles. Their on-court achievements speak for their sheer hard work and efforts put on early in their careers.

The two sisters were present at the Oscar award ceremony today, where their film received five nominations. Before appearing at the ceremony, Venus opened up on how she felt before the big event.

Venus Williams pens an emotional note before the Oscar ceremony

The elder Williams sister took to Instagram where she posted a picture of herself in a gorgeous white dress before attending the award ceremony. She said, “I’ve tried my best to prepare for every moment in life. I’ve trained my mind, body soul and spirit to be prepared and ready for anything that comes my way. Until now…. Until now…”

Further, she added, “I could have never dreamed or prepared to be at the Academy Awards for a film that tells my FAMILY’S story. This is beyond my dream. What can I tell you. Keep dreaming, keep working. Keep fighting. You don’t know where life might take you. I’m from Compton, California. And now I’m allow the way here. Its so good to BE ALIVE!”

Further, it was an eventful night for the King Richard family as Will Smith bagged the Oscar for the Best Actor for this film. He played the leading role of Serena and Venus’ father, Richard Williams. Emotions were flowing as Will Smith honored Richard during his victory speech. It capped off another successful night for this movie, which has received numerous laurels at other award shows as well.
