In a candid talk about the film ‘King Richard’, the American actor described how he felt in the shoes of Richard Williams. During the film shooting, the elder Williams sister revealed an intriguing fact to him. Sharing what Venus told him, he said, “one of the beautiful things that Venus said was that when they were growing up, their punishment was that they couldn’t play tennis.”

Further, he added, “somehow Richard found a way that he was following the girls. It’s not pushing, it’s not driving, it’s not pounding.” 

Talking about playing the role of Richard Williams, Will said, “It’s a really strange process as an actor and you never know what will be the thing that makes you get a character. With Richard, it was a connection to my own daughter.”

The two sisters are one of the most successful siblings the sport has seen. The younger Williams sister has won an astonishing 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most in the open era. Moreover, she is just a major title away from equaling Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles.
