Based on Venus and Serena Williams’ father, Richard Williams, the film portrayed how he overcame all odds to carve out a successful path for his daughters in tennis. The film received rave reviews from both the audience and the critics. Additionally, it also received several sought-after award nominations.

Will Smith played the lead role of Richard Williams in the film. His role was hugely appreciated by the entire film industry, as he won several accolades for his performance. Meanwhile, Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton played the role of the younger versions of Venus and Serena Williams, respectively, to perfection. Recently, they opened up about how Will Smith motivated them during the shooting of ‘King Richard’.

During ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, Serena and Venus’ on-screen counterparts talked about their chemistry with Will Smith. Revealing how Will supported them, Demi said, “It was real, because we love Mr. Will so much. You know, he’s to me like royalty, like Hollywood royalty and he’s done so much in his career and has inspired so many people, but just when you talk to him, he’s so kind and so humble. He’s so approachable.”

Further, Saniyya opened up about the advice they received from Will. She went on to say, “He told us something about his grandmother told him when he was going on tour for the first time. His grandmother said, well make sure that you respect the people that you see and work with because you may see them on the way up and you also may see them on the way down in your career.”

Will Smith played the stellar role of Richard Williams in ‘King Richard’. Earlier this year, he won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film.
