The British sensation came to light by winning the 2021 US Open. Even though she has struggled to perform since then, she has been a public figure.

Being the defending US Open champion, the World No. 10 looks to be in utmost confidence ahead of the hardcourt tournaments. However, the confidence she has now wasn’t something she possessed since her young days. Recently, Raducanu opened up about her timid nature during her childhood.

Emma Raducanu opens up about her childhood days

Fans of Raducanu are aware that the Brit star first stepped onto a tennis court and held a tennis racquet at the age of five. Steadily growing up, she won her first ITF tournament at the age of thirteen. Six years hence, Raducanu today enjoys the title of being one of the most prominent players on the tour. However, taking some time off from his intense training, Raducanu recently indulged in a candid interview with a media house to talk about her personal life.

During the conversation, she opened up about the time she first held a tennis racquet. “When I was five or six, I was pretty much the only girl in most of the classes,” she started.

As mentioned earlier, Raducanu today presents herself as a complete package of confidence. However, going ahead in the conversation, one can make out that it wasn’t the case in her childhood. Elaborating further, she admitted, “I remember clinging on to the fence, hiding behind my mum’s skirt.

Adding on to the problems, she further went on to explain her way of dealing with her timid nature. She said, “I didn’t want anything to do with it because I was shy. I’d cry on the court during a match.”
