Naomi Osaka has been one of the most popular tennis players in recent times. She first made headlines when she defeated Serena Williams at the 2018 US Open in a dramatic final. She then went on to win the 2019 Australian Open as well, making it two of her four singles titles back-to-back. Since her 2018 win, she has won Grand Slam singles titles in four consecutive years, even if she played a limited schedule in 2021.
Osaka has also been in the news quite frequently, be it for her activism or her off-court activities. She is one of the most marketable athletes and was the highest-earning female athlete of all time by annual income in 2020. She showcased her support for the Black Lives Matter movement during the US Open and was named one of the 2020 Sports Illustrated Sportspersons of the Year.

Good things are happening to Naomi Osaka
The former world No. 1 tweeted that she was in a good place in her life. She revealed that nice things were happening to her, and she wanted to share it with her fans and carry forward some positive energy.
A lot of really good things have been happening to me so I’m just hopping on here to spread the positive vibes 🐻🌸💕

While the tweet doesn’t really shed any light on what these good things might be, it’s fantastic that she is in such a positive mindset. Last year, she highlighted the issue of mental health of athletes, after having struggled with it herself. She took an indefinite break from tennis after her third-round loss at the US Open in September 2021.

But she made her return from the hiatus at the Melbourne Summer Set this year. “I actually really thought I wasn’t going to play for most of this year… I’m really happy with myself that I love the sport that much because I literally said that I was unsure when I was going to play after the US Open and I’m here right now,” she said after her first match back.
With last year’s Australian Open points dropping, and her recent performances in the WTA tournaments she’s taken part in, her revised ranking has dipped to No. 85.
