Sisters Venus and Serena Williams are two of the most loved tennis personalities all over the world. Both of them have achieved some remarkable feats in their careers and are legends of the game. While the girls have worked very hard to reach where they are today, their father, Richard Williams, played a pivotal role in their early careers. While he himself had no exposure to the game, Richard provided girls with the best he could.

Another person who closely saw the growth of Williams sisters was their former coach Rick Macci. While the entire world acknowledges Richard’s contribution to his daughter’s development, a few were not happy with his excessive engagement. One such person was Earl Woods, the father of legendary Golf player Tiger Woods.
Rick Macci comments on Earl Woods’ comments
Recently, the former coach of the Williams sisters, Rick Macci was present at a Spotify podcast where the host asked him about Earl Woods’ comments. Notably, the father of legendary golf player had accused Richard of enjoying the limelight earned by his daughters. “He’s way too involved in way too many interviews. I’ve backed off on letting Tiger take the spotlight.” Woods said.
Replying to the question, Macci acknowledged that Richard did like the spotlight, but it’s not a fair comparison because he was raising girls and he was just protecting them.
“Yes, Richard loved the spotlight, but it’s a little different with girls. You know, I think there was a lot of protection. Richard Williams was an amazing father. Every single day there were life lessons, but he was beating the drum. He liked exposure. He was putting a lot of helium in the balloon. But he was a very very confident guy.” He said.
While Earl Woods might not like the way Richard stood by his daughters, it’s for sure that both Earl and Richard gave world-class athletes to America.
