Indeed, Simona didn’t have a great start in 2022. Also, she couldn’t end the last season, due to some injury problems. Currently, she’s playing at the Madrid Open, as she’s trying to get her form back. Meanwhile, she appointed Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena Williams’ former coach, as her permanent coach.

In that interview, Simona also revealed that her husband was one of the people who encouraged her to train at the Mouratoglou Academy in France. When the interviewer asked her about a certain change after marriage, Simona said, “No, it didn’t because my husband is supporting me in this. Actually, he pushed me also to come here and to make this big step because, for me, it’s huge. It changed everything in my life to leave home and to stay here weeks in a row to practice. But I don’t feel it heavy, so, it’s super good.”

Speaking about her personal life, the Romanian said, “I’m happy in my personal life since I met him. He’s the perfect match, actually for my personality. He’s little bit older than me and he understands all my moods because tennis players, in general, have moods. It’s easy, he’s coming here in the weekends, I can see him, he has some work home. So yeah, the time is perfect together and he helps me to push myself to play tennis.”

Simona will play Coco Gauff at the Madrid Open

2-time Grand Slam champion, Simona is currently playing at the Madrid Open, as she reached the round of 16. In the previous rounds, she decimated all her opponents, particularly her win against the no.2 seed Paula Badosa was pretty impressive. In her next match, she will play against the 18-year-old tennis star from America, Coco Gauff.
