American tennis star Serena Williams is having a career so far that most people only can dream of. The manner in which she has gone about things in her career has earned her legendary status. One of the main individuals instrumental in shaping up her career is her father, Richard Williams.
Not long ago, the movie based on the lives of the Williams family was released. The movie is based mainly on the role of Serena Williams’ father Richard Williams. In the movie, Hollywood superstar Will Smith is playing the character of the great man.

Serena Williams’ father had larger interests in his sights
Recently, the Hollywood star made an interesting comment and mentioned the real motive behind Richard’s determination was not really his passion for tennis. On the contrary, it was more to do with protecting the well-being of his family.
Speaking on this subject, Will stated, “He wasn’t doing what people thought he was doing. He didn’t give a damn about tennis and He was trying to build his family. He was using tennis to cultivate his family, to cultivate values. My suffering helped me to become who I am. In those last moments with my father, I was able to forgive my father. I had a shocking realization that I was able to forgive myself. My father dying started a new phase of my life.”

Can Serena win another Major?

As far as tennis is concerned, over the past few years, Serena has been unable to win a Grand Slam title. She won the Australian Open 2017, which was her last win at a Major. Thereafter, despite reaching the Major final on four more occasions, the 40-year-old is still in search of her elusive 24th Grand Slam title victory.
She has even missed the last two Grand Slam tournaments as she is yet to regain full fitness.
