Elina Svitolina has been one of the top players on the WTA tour for quite a while now. She has been quite vocal about the situation back in Ukraine. Her home country has been facing some extremely tough times over the past few weeks. Russian aggression has been relentless and the people of Ukraine are still reeling under the violence that they have been seeing all around them. It has also been extremely difficult for tennis players from Ukraine to remain focused and steady on the tour.
She has also done her best to contribute to the cause, announcing that all her earnings from matches will be redistributed to humanitarian efforts and the army in Ukraine. Svitolina and her husband Gael Monfils, also took part in a fundraiser for this reason.
