The British tennis player, Emma Raducanu, is in the midst of controversy. The tennis pro is getting a lot of flak for her latest behavior at the pre-Madrid Open press conference, where she answered 16 questions in just 58 words. However, in the world of tennis, dealing with criticism online is nothing new. And lately, Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard expressed empathy for the 20-year-old tennis player’s negative encounter.
Raducanu has been putting in effort to regain her incredible tennis form for the past 12 months, to be exact. The Madrid Open was intended to be a return to form for the tennis star. But due to a wrist injury, she withdrew in the first round, making her situation much more precarious.

Eugenie Bouchard backs Emma Raducanu with a strong take
The 29-year-old Canadian tennis player made an amazing win over Elizabeth Mandlik in the second round of qualifying to reach the main draw of the WTA 1000 event. However, after the victory, in a press conference, the 2014 Wimbledon runner-up detailed how she can understand the British tennis player’s exact position, where she is continuously receiving negative from her haters.

Bouchard said, “But I can understand a little bit, possibly the pressure, the scrutiny. She tweeted something, posted something about not doing tennis one day and people were like, `Why don’t you go practice.’ I was like, `Oh, my God, I went through that six, eight years ago.’ Haters will hate, you know what I mean?”

Additionally, she also discussed how she can relate to the 2021 US Open champion, describing how the pressure might occasionally provide critics with a chance to lambaste the tennis player. She also noted that it’s best to ignore the critics and concentrate on your own work.
Not only that, even the American tennis legend, Chris Evert came out to be an empathetic savior and defended the 20-year-old tennis player’s act of giving minimalistic answers.

Chris Evert defends Raducanu over the Madrid Open incident
The 68-year-old tennis star used her Twitter account to express her take on the press conference scenario involving the British tennis player. Throughout the entire press conference, the 2021 US Open winner answered questions with barely a few words, making it clear that she was not in the mood to do so.
