After reaching the top echelons of the women’s circuit, Caroline Wozniacki bid adieu to competitive tennis in order to embark on a new journey: starting her family. Now that she has finally embraced motherhood, the former tennis ace is all set to make a sensational return to the court, according to her recent interview with Vogue.
Prior to her participation in this season’s US Open, the Danish tennis star will also be making her mark at the women’s invitational legends doubles at the ongoing Wimbledon Championship. Speaking about her participation in the highly intriguing event in London, the former Australian Open champion opened up about how she is glad that her close friend and old rival, Serena Williams, moved away from the WTA Tour before her comeback.

In an interview with express.co.uk, the former world No. 1 player revealed how she is optimistic about her return to competitive tennis in the absence of her old rival, Serena Williams, who used to give her ‘nightmares’. After Caroline Wozniacki moved away from the court in 2020, a number of powerhouses have emerged on the WTA Tour, like Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina.
However, the Danish tennis star believes that it won’t be a major challenge to compete against such players of high caliber, as she has already locked horns with “the greatest of all time” in the women’s circuit.
She said, “Obviously there are a lot of good players out there and it is a high level of tennis but I played with the greatest of all time in Serena. She’s the best player I ever played and she isn’t around anymore so that feels good to me at the moment! I am happy not to have to play her anymore.”
