Former American tennis star Chris Evert won the biggest battle of her life this year. After the diagnosis of Ovarian cancer, the 67-year-old went through six chemotherapy sessions. While the battle is over now, the 18-time Grand Slam champion opened up about the challenging process in an interview in September. The former world number one spoke in detail about her treatment and the support of a very special person.

After going through a tough chemotherapy treatment, Evert informed her fans that she is free from cancer in May. Later, the 67-year-old sat down for an interview with PBS NewsHour in September. Here the 18-time Grand Slam champion spoke in detail about the impact of chemotherapy sessions and how she dealt with it. She also revealed how her ex-husband, Andy Mill, played an important role in the entire process.

“Andy, my former husband, took me to all six chemos. And he was really supportive. I had a little nausea and fatigue, not tiredness, but fatigue is a different feeling,” Evert said.

She further added, ” I had that for like five days, and then I would have two weeks of feeling ok. And I could go to my tennis academy and coach. I could do pretty much normal things. So I feel very lucky.”

Chris Evert and Andy Mill were together from 1988 to 2006. Evert divorced Mill to marry Australian golfer Greg Norman. However, the marriage didn’t last long, and the couple separated. Evert is living a single life now and has reconciled with her ex-husband Mill, who currently co-parent their three children.

Even after ending on a bad note, Mill and Evert are good friends now. Mill proved his dedication at the time of her need and stood strong by Evert’s side in her battle with cancer. Recently, while going through Twitter, Evert got a suggestion from a fan that she should have never left Andy.

Accepting the advice positively, Evert replied to the fan, admitting that she made a mistake to leave Andy. Even though the two are not together anymore, Evert on many occasions admitted that Andy will be the person she will call first at the time of an emergency.
