On Thursday, WTA unveiled its bold, new brand identity with a different logo. Moving away from purple, green is the new striking identity for its revamp, dubbed “Rally the World.” To celebrate this new beginning, they also held a launch party. The WTA players did not disappoint in the fashion department. Aryna Sabalenka dazzled in the classic mini black dress by Chanel. Doubles champion Taylor Townsend was also serving looks. But that’s not the only thing that caught our attention. Find out her hilarious twist on the outfit!

The American tennis player wears many hats: whether it’s being a champion on the court or being a devoted mom off of it. But did you know she’s also a fashionista? Townsend was dressed in a chic blue Veronica Beard top and skirt. She accessorized the outfit with Chanel sneakers and a Chanel bag. However, the American tennis player also dropped a hilariously iconic way of pronouncing Chanel. When asked about her outfit, she said, “You know I got the most drip on tour. Sheneneh on the sneakers, Sheneneh on the bag.” This was a nod to the iconic character of Martin Lawrence named Sheneneh Jenkins in the TV Show ‘Martin.’

The WTA rebrand saw the World No. 2 doubles champion express her confidence and perseverance that has made her the successful player she is today. WTA’s official IG account shared a short video that featured many WTA tennis stars giving out powerful messages. Among them was Taylor Townsend, who packed a punch with her message. She said, “This is my stage, to be me. Playing to be me means showing up to the mothers, showing up to the girls, showing up to the women, being a representation for my culture.”

The American powerhouse is a single mother to her son Adyn, whom she gave birth to in 2021, and has managed motherhood and tennis perfectly. There was a time when she wasn’t able to find the result she wanted. However, this 2025 season has brought her to the top. She started the year strong as she won the Australian Open Doubles with Katerina Siniakova and followed it up with a win at the Dubai Open with Siniakova again. But all this has come with its own set of challenges.

Taylor Townsend ‘proves people wrong’ as she finally finds success

The victory at the Dubai Open has propelled Taylor Townsend to a new career-high ranking of No. 2 in WTA doubles, just behind her partner. With this win, she became the highest-ranked American across all tennis disciplines. But it wasn’t always like that.

The Australian open doubles champion has faced her set of hurdles in this journey. In 2012, the USTA had denied funding and support to Townsend, raising issues regarding her weight and fitness. She had to pay her travelling expenses from her pocket to participate in the US Open despite being the top American junior player. Talking about her struggle, she said, “Yeah, I mean, it’s been a long road. A lot of haters, a lot of people who weren’t sure. I’ve really embraced thriving in these kinds of conditions, being able to prove people wrong. I’ve always been that way, but I think I suppressed that side of me for a long time.”

Her next stop is at the Indian Wells, which begins on March 5. Townsend will take part in both the singles and the doubles category. Though her singles journey hasn’t yielded the best results, she is relentless in her approach. The 28-year-old tennis player will once again partner up with Katerina Siniakova. Will they clinch their 3rd title together this season, and can Townsend make strides in her singles journey as well? What do you think?
