The wait for Venus Williams‘ comeback is finally over. After being out of action for almost six months and missing two Grand Slam tournaments, the American tennis star is ready to take on some tough competition. The 41-year-old tennis pro is in the Netherlands and will play in the Libema Open to make her long-awaited comeback to the court. Ahead of her tennis comeback, she recently remarked on how it felt to play on a grass court again.
The tournament organizers gave the seven-time Grand Slam champion a wildcard invitation to the Libema Open. And despite being ranked 701st, Williams is preparing to compete at Wimbledon, as she is returning to the grass court after skipping the Australian Open and French Open.

The 42-year-old American tennis pro has proven her excellent abilities on the grass court throughout her career. The Wimbledon Grand Slam competition, held on grass courts, has seen five of her victories. And right now, as she prepares to resume her tennis career, she recently had a conversation with an Omroep Brabant reporter.

She expressed her excitement about competing in the WTA 250 competition. But she also emphasized the pain of playing on the green surface. Williams said, “I’m here to show the public fun and good tennis. And myself, of course. This morning I got my feet dirty on the grass and the courts are great. It’s the first time I’ve played on grass in a year.”
However, for the American tennis star herself, the tournament holds a very special significance. As she has never played in the Netherlands before and it’s a first-time experience for her.

Williams provides a quick grass court update
As the former world number one prepares for her comeback in a few days, she recently shared a lovely photo from her tournament practice in Rosmalen. In that picture, Williams was sprawled out on the grass court where the competition will take place. In addition, with the soaking-in sun picture, she wrote, “Splendor on the grass.”
