Wimbledon 2014, Eugenie Bouchard was the runner-up
Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard rose to the limelight when she first reached the final of the Wimbledon Championships back in 2014. Undoubtedly, it was her brightest year on the tour when she reached the semi-finals of the both Australian Open and the French Open.
Later, in the same year, she reached the final of the Wimbledon where she suffered a loss to the Czech international, Petra Kvitova. Recently, in a podcast interview, she talked about her haunting memories from that match.

Eugenie Bouchard talks about her famous Wimbledon 2014 final match
While talking to the interviewer Kaitlyn Bristowe, Eugenie revealed how she felt she was absolutely destroyed in that final. She also said that she never watched the video of that final ever again.
“So, basically, no Canadian player had ever reached the finals of any Grand Slams before and so, when I did that at Wimbledon in 2014, I was the first Canadian to ever do that. It’s just kind of history, I made history in a sense. And I was obviously very proud to do that for myself and my country. Unfortunately, I did lose in the finals, I got my bu*t kicked. But you live and you learn,” Bouchard revealed.

“To this day, I still have not been able to re-watch that, like match. Because often we try to you know watch tapes of ourselves and films to learn and you know good matches and bad matches and that one was so scarring, I have not been able to watch,” she further added about not re-visiting that final.
Notably, Bouchard also entered the top five for the very first time in her career after reaching the final at Wimbledon. At that time, she was the first Canadian player, male or female, to reach the top 5 of the rankings.
Bouchard is getting ready for her comeback
Eugenie is currently on the verge of returning to the tennis tour after a long injury layup. After going through shoulder surgery in June last year, she has been going through rehab. Earlier, she talked about possibly making her comeback at the French Open this year.

However, she hasn’t played a competitive match this year and only took part in some exhibition matches. Not to mention, it is hard to play at a Grand Slam, like the French Open without playing a single tournament on clay.
Recently, she posted some videos of her workout in the gym, working on her shoulder. As per her current schedule, Wimbledon is definitely a possibility for the Canadian player.
