After ruling the tennis court for two decades, the 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams is enjoying her newfound success as a golf team co-owner. Following her retirement in 2022, the 43-year-old has shown a growing interest in golf alongside her husband, Alexis Ohanian. So much so that they ended up having their own team in the Tiger Woods-backed Tomorrow Golf League (TGL). With her sister Venus and daughter Olympia, Serena co-owns the Los Angeles-based team, LAGC. And guess what? The team has given them a huge reason to feel proud this week!

Back in January, Williams made her presence felt in the TGL during LAGC’s match against Jupiter Links. A few days later, she was seen cheering the LAGC on again in another encounter where they played against the New York Golf Club at the SoFi Center in Florida. This time, she was even accompanied by her husband Ohanian and their elder daughter Olympia. The team won 5-4 in overtime while securing a playoff spot.

As the match concluded, Serena was seen showing her excitement, jumping from her chair. Her husband and LAGC’s co-owner Alexis later reacted to that on his IG story, saying, “Put it in my veins.”

Well, Serena happened to attend her LAGC’s match this week as well. And guess what? They eventually reached the top spot in the league with a win over The Bay Golf Club in the playoffs. After eight holes, LAGC was trailing behind 0-3 but later made a thrilling comeback to script a 5-3 victory.

The moment her team became table toppers in TGL, Williams couldn’t hold her feelings. In an IG story, she said, “We are No.1 now baby,” with Ohanian by her side, echoing “No.1.” The Reddit co-founder later congratulated the team on his own IG account as well. “@wearelagc claims NUMBER ONE spot @tglgolf going into playoffs. Hell of a job, team!” he wrote in a post dated March 4.

But hey, there is someone else in the Williams-Ohanian household who must be equally happy about this outcome. It’s Olympia! Alexis has previously stated how much his elder daughter loves golf. Perhaps that’s the reason why he also takes it seriously – more than a business.

On a previous occasion, Alexis Ohanian revealed, “To wit, my wife Serena [Williams] and I have enjoyed as Olympia’s taken a liking to golf. This is another piece of the legacy I’m building for my family, and I hope this team can become a part of many families’ lives, too.” Thanks to the debut of TGL, he’s got a bright chance to fulfill his golf vision going forward.

Remember how last year he was admiring Olympia’s golf skills? In a post on X, from December, he wrote, “Jr got four strokes for this hole and got par. So proud”

Speaking of his experience with the sport, after LAGC’s debut in TGL, he wrote on LinkedIn, “WHAT. A. NIGHT. ⛳️ The Los Angeles Golf Club debut in the TGL was absolutely insane. Loved every bit of it + not to mention a 12-1 opening win. Are you kidding me?! SHEESH. Great work, team 🔥🔥.” Even Serena Williams echoed his emotions in an interaction with ESPN, saying, “It’s so exciting to be here as a team owner and just get a different look at things.”

Sharing her thoughts on the walkouts in the TGL, unlike the conventional golf tournaments, she further added, “It’s so wild. It’s something you see a little bit in tennis or all the time in basketball, right? We don’t really see it in golf. Actually, we never see that in golf. It’s so good to see their personalities and see them shine as golfers, as they are.”
