While the American tennis star is doing great on the athletic front, she believes there will be a time in her life when she will have to leave tennis behind and move forward. But rather than leaving tennis, she has found the perfect way to connect her life to tennis by helping children learn the sport at a quite young age. Recently, she sat down with Morgan Stanley during a WTA interview and talked about how she wanted to do something for God’s greatest gift.

She said, “I’ve always been someone who loved to give back. I love kids like I think that they’re like God’s greatest gift. I really do believe that kids are like the foundation of our world and I think you can change a kid’s life by just being present and being there.”

“I think tennis has been my vehicle, and has given me so much in life and why not let someone else experience that?”

Along with that, she explained in detail the current functioning of her foundation. There are a lot of free tennis programs currently going on in Compton, California, for school-going children to connect with the sport. Not only that, she also highlighted how they provide tennis service to around 10,000 kids a year so that they can learn about this sport and not consider it boring.

When Stephens made a philanthropic gesture

The 2017 US Open champion has always been close to her family, and that too in such a way that her love for tennis is inspired by her stepfather’s involvement in the game. Last year, she came up with a Doc and Glo scholarship to honor her grandparents, which will award educational benefits to 20 potential students.

In addition, she also highlighted how her grandparents have engraved such thoughts in her soul. She said, “They instilled in me from a very early age the importance of pursuing a quality education even amidst my journey towards becoming a professional tennis player.” She believes education is quite important in a child’s upbringing, and with her foundation and other partnerships, she has definitely started giving back to society, doing something for the younger generation.
