American tennis legend, Serena Williams, has always expressed gratitude towards her dad and coach, Richard Williams. Additionally, she also revealed that it was not only her dad who played an important role in her tennis journey. Williams also considers her mother, Oracene Price, as a crucial part of her illustrious tennis journey.

After becoming a parent, the 23 Grand Slam champion, also wrote a heartwarming letter for her mother. Williams commended her mother for being a role model in her journey. She also talked about her daughter, Olympia in that letter.
Serena Williams wishes she could take her mother’s lead
The 23 Grand Slam title winner’s parents, Richard Williams and Oracene Price, have always supported her but it was her father who got much more recognition for being Williams’ coach. However, Serena Williams always respected her mother and also wrote an emotional letter for her.
In that letter, Williams stated, “You are so classy, I only wish I could take your lead,” The American tennis legend further added, “I am trying, though, and God is not done with me yet. I have a LONG way to go, but thank you.”
Williams further expressed her gratitude towards her mother by stating, “Thank you for being the role model.” She also stated that her mother endured many hardships and challenges for her. Williams then went on to say that she wants to instill these values in her little daughter, Olympia as well.

Williams also talked about her struggles with body shaming
Serena Williams also talked about how she was a victim of body shaming during her tennis journey. She further stated that many people accused her of using some drugs for her strong physique. The American tennis star further revealed that people called her a “man” as he looked stronger than other female athletes.

Williams went on to say that she faced criticism from other players because of her muscular physique. However, she stated that she is a player of integrity and never used any dishonest way to win against her opponents. Williams added that she is proud of her strong physique as she works hard to tone up her body. The 23 Grand Slam champion has dominated her rivals because of her attacking and ferocious way of playing on the court.
