Chris Evert was famous for her looks back in the day, but she never let that aspect take control of her image. The 18-time Grand Slam champion’s tag of one of the greatest tennis players of all time always overshadowed everything else. However, it’s not like she didn’t care at all about her appearance. She did, but not to a level that could become toxic.

In a 1997 interview, she spoke about ending her career, raising children, gaining spirituality, etc. In context to the same, she also opened up about her take on the value of her physical attributes and how far she would go to maintain them.

Evert shares her views on opting for outside help to restore one’s appearance

When asked to express her thoughts about the people who try to hold on to their physical appearance despite their advancing age, she said. “Well, some of them do. But not everybody can afford a facelift.”

Thereafter, she stumbled upon the question of whether she would ever opt for one. To which Evert strongly denied and said, “No. I wouldn’t do it. However, she also clarified, “I’m not saying all plastic surgery is bad.”

“And I’m not saying in 10 years I might not look into an eyelift. But liposuction and all that stuff … go out and run five miles.” Evert is currently 67 years old. She retired from the sport in 1989 after securing 157 singles and 32 doubles titles under her name.

Further, she also executed one of the best rivalries in tennis with Martina Navratilova and helped America win eight Fed cups. Therefore, it is safe to say that her physical appearance will never stand in the way of her being cherished.

What is Chris Evert up to these days?

The seven-time French Open champion is currently enjoying her time as a broadcaster. She first collaborated with ESPN in 2011 and since then has been covering all four Grand Slams for the channel. She uses her knowledge and understanding of the sport for analytical purposes as well.

Further apart from that, Evert is also doing an important job in terms of social causes. She takes part in several fundraisers and runs her own charity. The Chris Evert Charity focuses on matters such as drug abuse and child neglect.
