‘Getting My Partner Killed’ – Venus Williams’ Proves Her Wit Once Again as She Responds to a Fan Question

Venus Williams is one of the best female players of all time. In her illustrious career, the 41-year-old has won 7 Grand Slam titles. She also became the first African-American woman to top the rankings in the open era. Venus’ dominance has not been limited to just the singles; she has great records in doubles events as well. The 41-year-old formed a lethal pair with her sister and fellow tennis player Serena Williams.

Apart from her 7 singles major titles, she has also won 14 Women’s doubles Grand Slam titles. Having proved herself in both singles and doubles, a fan asked her about the difference between playing in both. Here’s how the legend replied.

Venus answers the fan’s question

Venus was having a question-answer session on her Instagram account. Replying to the question about the difference between playing singles and doubles, Venus gave a hilarious reply. “I’m really not a doubles player. The court feels smaller, I’m worried about getting my partner killed if I hit a bad shot. Not easy! But worth it!” She said.

Even though Venus does not consider herself a doubles player, the 41-year-old certainly has quite a good record in doubles.

Venus Williams to return in singles

After surprising her fans with a sudden mixed doubles appearance in the Wimbledon Championship 2022, the former number 1 is all set to return to the singles tour as well. Returning after over a year, the 41-year-old will be playing a couple of events in Washington DC and Toronto.

Venus last played a singles match back in 2021. Losing against Hsieh Su-Wei in Chicago. Notably, Serena will also be playing in the National Bank Open, Toronto. After a long wait, the Williams fans will see both the sisters fighting it out individually on the court. With the US Open not too far away now, it will be interesting to see how well they prepare themselves for the big Grand Slam.
