American tennis great Serena Williams recently retired from professional tennis. The 41-year-old has accomplished almost everything in her career. With 23 Grand Slam titles to her name, she retired as the second-highest Grand Slam title winner. However, Williams could not go past the record of Margaret Court. The Aussie has 24 Majors to her name and remains on the top.

While the world was busy applauding Serena in her retirement, Court was not happy with the attention Serena got and people calling her the GOAT. She was quick to remind people about her 24 Grand Slam titles over Serena’s 23. Recently, American NBA star Draymond Green gave an angry response to the Aussie legend. Here’s what he said.

Draymond Green blasts at Margaret Court

In the latest episode of ‘The Shop’, American NBA star Draymond Green expressed his feeling about the criticism from Margaret court for Serena Williams. The 32-year-old also recalled her words just after Serena’s retirement. “I was reading an article the other day where some lady named court, Margaret Court, she has 24, Serena has 23. She’s like Serena never admired me. I thought it was fucking ridiculous,” he said.

Green further added, “You are sitting here talking about you beat her 24 to 23 and that is the least relevant point in all of this. How about what this black woman had to go through to become what she became?”

Explaining more about the struggles of a black tennis player, Green added, “You go play tennis in your sleep like that’s the easy part. But what she had to go through as a black girl wearing beads to even get invited in fucking tennis. And you want to make this about 24? Get the fuck out of here. Like that’s bullshit. You are comparing your numbers to this black girl who changed culture.”

However, the former world number gave her reasons, including childbirth, and her medical condition, which might have affected her chances later in her career. Serena didn’t rule out going behind the record as she accepted that it was in her mind whenever she was playing in the final of a Grand Slam. However, the American has moved on from it and is currently looking forward to her family rather than her tennis resume.
